‘Out Of The Saddle – An Evening with the Downing Brothers’ Returns For a Second Year
Cycling brothers Dean and Russell Downing will once again be hosting “Out of the Saddle – An Evening with the Downing Brothers” on Saturday 6th November at Sitwell Park Golf Club near Rotherham.
Last years’ inaugural event saw the brothers joined by cycling legends Malcolm Elliott, Chris Walker, Ben Swift and Adam Blythe. With family and many friends from the cycling community attending, the night was heartily enjoyed by all who attended.
Looking to build on that success, the night will once again feature a buffet, auction, disco and guest speeches and interviews all compared by Eurosport’s cycling commentator David Harmon.
Russell has enjoyed a fantastic debut year at ProTour level, winning three races with Team Sky. Older brother Dean has also had a successful 2010, winning races with Rapha Condor Sharp on the British Crit scene.
This year the brothers have decided to support local charity, the Danny Porter Foundation, after hearing about the From Surgeon to Surgery ride, which saw a team of 22 ‘beginners and enthusiasts’ cycle from Glasgow to Sheffield in five days earlier in the year.
“We liked the idea of teaming up with a local charity, and the Danny Porter Foundation was the perfect fit.” Dean Downing commented “We’re all looking forward to a great night and raising plenty of money for the cause”
From the foundation, Danny Porter added “Having two such great Yorkshire sportsmen supporting us with this event is fantastic and will help us continue to raise funds for cancer and neurological services in our area. I’m looking forward to joining Russell and Dean at the evening – as long as I don’t have to race them there!”
Please note: Unfortunately this event is now sold out. The support for Out of the Saddle this year has been fantastic and we will be exploring options for a larger venue in 2011. Please register your interest and we'll keep you up to date with latest developments and news, including venue and ticket details for 2011. Sorry for any disappointment.
