What was your first bike?
A Raleigh of some sort, can't remember what exactly.
How do you know Dan?
Through a mutual friend – Pete Hanley- and using Hallam Univertsity gym with Sheffield Eagles.
Before you started training, when was the last time you cycled?
Oct last year, been too cold since then!
Why have you decided to do this challenge?
Recklessness, bravado, it should be a blast. And of course raising money for a great local cause.
What are you most looking forward to?
The downhills, seeing Pete in lycra, a week away from the wife!
What are you most worried about?
The uphills, seeing Pete in lycra, getting back in time for my wifes bithday.
What do you want to achieve from this experience?
Arrive back in one piece and to be able to sit down again! It’s a big ask to get back in the saddle again each day, the sense of accomplishment at the end should be fantastic.
How are you preparing for the challenge?
Carbs, plenty of carbs. And psychotherapy.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I get athletes foot even though I’m not an athlete.
Who do you most hope to be mistaken for whilst cycling?
A cyclist! Maybe Victoria Pendleton (all that lycra) or Chris Boardman seeing as his name is all over my bike!
